The McCarthy Stone Foundation supports grassroots organisations helping older people live happier, healthier and more connected lives. Its funding focuses on organisations supporting people aged 65 and over, particularly those experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

Priority themes:

• Festive Connections: Grants of up to £750 for activities bringing older people together over Christmas and New Year.

• Core Cost Funding: Unrestricted grants of up to £7,500 to help grassroots organisations sustain their work with older people.

• Project Funding: Support for new or existing programmes benefiting people aged 65 and over.

• Dementia Grants: Grants of up to £7,500 for dementia clubs and memory cafés. This programme is currently closed.

The Creating Connections programme is also closed to new applications for autumn 2026.

Deadlines The Festive Connections programme is currently open and closes at 5pm on 15 October 2026. Funded activities must take place between 1 December 2026 and 2 January 2027.

Any specific tips to apply This is particularly relevant for smaller organisations running lunch clubs, befriending, community transport, dementia support and social activities for older people. Demonstrate how your work reduces isolation, builds friendships and enables older people to remain connected to their communities.
