Established in 1975 by Ford Motor Company, the Ford Britain Trust provides grants to support community projects across the UK. The Trust offers small grants of up to £250 and large grants of up to £3,000, with priority given to communities close to Ford’s UK operations.
Priority themes
The Trust supports projects that make a positive difference to local communities, particularly those focusing on education, the environment, children and young people, disability and community wellbeing.
There is particular interest in projects supporting mainstream education, children with special educational needs, opportunities for young people, environmental improvements and activities that promote inclusion for disabled people.
Funding can be used towards capital projects, including building refurbishments, furniture, equipment and computers. Grants can also contribute towards the purchase of new Ford vehicles, up to a maximum of £3,000.
Eligibility and exclusions
Applications are welcomed from registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, state schools and Parent Teacher Associations.
Funding is available throughout the UK, although applications from areas close to Ford operations receive priority. These include Essex and East London, Bridgend, Southampton, Daventry, Manchester and Liverpool.
Deadlines
The deadline for large grants is 30 November 2026.
Application process
Applications are submitted through the Ford Britain Trust’s online application process. Applicants should identify the specific items or improvements they wish to fund and explain how these will benefit their local community.
Tips for applicants
Applications should demonstrate a clear and practical community benefit, particularly how the proposed equipment or improvements will enable organisations to provide better services or reach more people.
Organisations located near Ford’s UK operations should highlight their geographical connection, as these areas receive additional priority.
