The Lloyds Bank Foundation has launched its £8 million New Beginnings Fund to help prevent homelessness before people reach crisis point. The programme forms part of the Foundation’s new Good Place to Live strategy and combines unrestricted funding with tailored organisational development support.
The Foundation is looking for organisations supporting people at key life moments when the risk of homelessness is highest, including:
- People leaving prison
- Young people leaving care
- Survivors of domestic abuse
- People leaving the asylum system after securing leave to remain
Support can include housing, welfare, immigration, health, advocacy and other services that help prevent homelessness through early intervention.
Registered charities, CIOs and Schedule 2 CICs limited by guarantee or shares can apply. Organisations must have an annual income between £25,000 and £2 million and already be delivering homelessness prevention or related support. Schedule 3 CICs are not eligible.
Grant amounts
- £100,000 over four years for organisations with income below £100,000.
- £200,000 over four years for organisations with income between £100,000 and £2 million.
Grants are unrestricted, allowing organisations to use the funding where it is needed most. Around 40–50 organisations will be funded.

9 September 2026 (5pm).
Application process
Applications are submitted online after completing an initial eligibility quiz. The Foundation is also offering webinars and pre-application discussions with its grants team.

This is an excellent opportunity for organisations providing holistic, person-centred support that prevents homelessness rather than simply responding to crisis. Strong applications will demonstrate long-term relationships with beneficiaries, partnership working and clear evidence of helping people sustain safe housing and rebuild their lives.
