The Swire Charitable Trust

Swire Charitable Trust has supported the work of charitable organisations in the UK and in 2020 awarded over £3 million in grants to just under two hundred recipient charities.

The Swire Charitable Trust makes grants to charities supporting some of the UK’s most vulnerable people to overcome barriers and realise their potential, and to charities who are protecting our precious environment and heritage.

They welcome funding applications from charities whose work is closely aligned with the funding priorities of their core programmes and those who are well positioned to meet current challenges.

They run a rolling programme with regular grantmaking meetings, so there are no deadlines. Once you have submitted your application it will be assigned to the next available meeting. You can expect to receive an outcome within 2-3 months of submission.

The Trust has three main grant-making programmes – Opportunity, Heritage, and Environment – and we have specific aims underpinning each one of these, as well as overarching priorities to help guide us in our grant making

As well as our three core programmes, we also have a dedicated £1.5 million Covid-19 Programme offering one year grants of under £25,000. This gives grants to charities who are providing a critical response to the pandemic or those facing funding pressures.

This programme prioritises charities that:

  • Can demonstrate that they are addressing a clear Covid-19 related need
  • Continue to face unprecedented demand for their services
  • Are experiencing Covid-19 specific funding challenges
