A.F. Blakemore – The Blakemore Foundation / Community Grants

A.F. Blakemore & Son Ltd through its Blakemore Foundation supports local charities and community groups across England, Scotland and Wales, offering both monetary and in‑kind donations via its SPAR retail network.

The Foundation offers small‑scale grants and donations focused on charities delivering community benefit. Donations may include monetary support (up to £200 per grant), goods to support local events, match‑funding for staff/retailer fundraising, and support for independent SPAR retailer‑led fundraising. afblakemore.com+1

The scheme is open to UK‑based charities and community groups operating in the A.F. Blakemore/SPAR trading area. Grants are specifically limited to amounts of around £200 for each of the listed types (monetary, in‑kind, match‑funding or retailer donations) and applicants should plan ahead (especially during seasonal peaks).

Any specific tips to apply

  • Prepare your request early and avoid last‑minute applications around seasonal peaks.

  • Keep the grant ask realistic (around £200) and explicitly tie it to a local community cause or fundraising event.

  • Demonstrate that your organisation is local to a SPAR/A.F. Blakemore trading area and that the funds or goods will directly benefit local people.

  • For match‑fund or retailer‑led applications, show your retail partner involvement and fundraising activity.

  1. Dear sir Madam
As you have a large well used supermarket in Hoo can you please take a moment to read the following Free days information, we as the Hoo Council Event team are looking for grants or raffle prizes thank you for your time:
Hoo and Chattenden Parish Council Event Committee.

    Dear Sir/Madam
The Hoo and Chattenden Parish Council Event team are holding a number of events this year funded by a small grant from the parish Council. We are holding three free events for the people of the parish.
The first being held on the 9th May 2026, Will be a Dinosaur Day, presented by Rent a Dinosaur. There will be two shows and 2 walk about with the Dinosaurs. Where the children can interact with the Dinosaurs, and have photo opportunities. We are also allowing local businesses and charities to have a stall in the area at a cost of £15 to help with the cost of this event.
The second being held on the 10th October 2026, which is a Harvest Tea for OAP who live in the parish, as well as an afternoon tea, they will be given a raffle ticket, a game of Bingo and entertainment, this event is completely free. Last year we served over a 100 teas.
The third being held on the 28th November 2026, which is Christmas on the Green, where children can meet Father Christmas; each child will be given a gift. There will be free tea, coffee and squash, plus entertainment from the Vision Singing Choir and hopefully from the Salvation Army, and a local dance group and we are considering a small Christmas Market. Last year over 300 children attended and met Father Christmas.
As you can appreciate the cost of these events to the Hoo Parish Events Committee is considerable. This is not fully covered by the Parish Grant. Therefore we are asking local businesses such as yourself, if you could donate a Raffle Prize or consider sponsoring one of the events. Your support is very much needed to help to continue these events.
All the events we have in planning this year are free to attend.
