The Henry Smith Foundation has launched the Welcome for Newcomers Fund to strengthen local organisations and partnerships supporting people seeking sanctuary, those navigating the immigration system, and refugees rebuilding their lives after receiving asylum.

The Foundation is looking for organisations that bring together three key elements:

• Specialist support for newcomers, either directly or through trusted referral partners.
• Social and community activities that build belonging, connection and participation.
• Systems change, strengthening local partnerships, amplifying newcomer voices and improving how services work together.

Projects should be rooted in local communities and provide safe, welcoming spaces where people can build relationships and access support.

The programme is open to charities, CICs and partnerships already delivering established support for newcomers. Applicants should demonstrate strong local relationships and experience of collaborative working.

Grant amounts
The Foundation will award 20 grants of £200,000 over three years. Funding is flexible and can support core costs as well as service delivery.

Deadlines
The fund opens on 15 July 2026. A webinar for prospective applicants will be held on 14 July 2026.

Application process
Applicants should review the programme guidance before applying. Successful organisations will receive flexible funding alongside support from a dedicated Grants Manager throughout the grant period.
