Principality Building Society’s Future Generations Fund

The Principality Building Society’s Future Generations Fund is delivered in partnership with Community Foundation Wales and supports projects that improve the lives, opportunities and wellbeing of children and young people across Wales. Since launching in 2022, the programme has distributed millions of pounds to grassroots organisations helping young people thrive.

Priority themes they want to fund
Grants of up to £12,500 for one year are available towards core costs for organisations supporting children and young people aged up to 25. Priority areas include improving access to healthy food and essential items, supporting mental health and wellbeing, building financial resilience and life skills, developing employability and skills, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability, and helping children and young people engage positively with education and future opportunities. Particular priority is given to organisations working with disadvantaged, vulnerable and underserved young people across Wales.

Exclusions
The fund is only open to organisations whose work is primarily focused on supporting children and young people. Organisations delivering services to all age groups are generally not eligible unless they are focused on protected characteristic communities and the application relates solely to work with children and young people. Organisations with annual incomes above £500,000 are usually ineligible unless exceptional circumstances apply. Organisations funded through either of the previous two rounds cannot apply.

Deadlines
The current programme is closed. Community Foundation Wales advises that the fund is expected to reopen at midday on 17 August 2026

Application process
Applications are submitted online through the Community Foundation Wales Grants Hub. Applicants should clearly demonstrate need, expected outcomes for children and young people, organisational impact, and how funding will help sustain essential services.

Any specific tips to apply
This fund is particularly suited to smaller charities, CICs, social enterprises and community groups with a strong track record of supporting young people. Applications should focus on tangible outcomes, evidence of need, and how core funding will strengthen long-term support for young people facing disadvantage. Demonstrating links to wellbeing, life skills, employability, resilience or environmental action is likely to strengthen an application.
