The Sheldon Trust is a UK charity that awards grants to registered UK‑charities working in community development, special needs and youth in the West Midlands and nationally for 16‑25 year olds.
Priority themes they want to fund
-
Community projects within the West Midlands (Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Warwickshire)
-
Special needs groups in the same West Midlands area (those disadvantaged by age, health or learning issues)
-
Youth development projects (nationally) supporting young people aged 16‑25, especially those not in education, employment or training (NEET)
Exclusions & CIC eligibility
Only UK‑registered charities are eligible—Community Interest Companies (CICs) are not accepted. The Trust does not consider applications from organisations with annual income over £1 million or unrestricted reserves exceeding six months’ annual expenditure. Capital appeals for building costs or vehicles are excluded.
Deadlines
For their main grant programme, the next window is expected to open in Spring 2026. Holiday grant applications are accepted throughout the year but note that previous deadlines have been around July for one category
Application process
Applicants complete an online form specifying project details, budget, beneficiary numbers, and outcome measures. Applications are assessed by trustees and must show clear alignment with the Trust’s focus areas and geographic eligibility.
