Schroder Charity Trust

About the funder
Schroder Charity Trust is an independent family trust supporting UK charities with one‑off grants. It has recently revised its grant-making approach and applications are currently paused as it reviews strategy.

Priority themes they want to fund
They will consider projects under two core objectives: (1) enabling disadvantaged children and young adults to thrive in education and employment, and (2) strengthening communities through wellbeing and life-enriching services for vulnerable people.

Exclusions
Only UK-registered charities are eligible. The revised guidelines do not appear to include community interest companies (CICs) as eligible.

Deadlines
The next application window runs from 1 October to 30 November 2025, with decisions expected within four months of closing.

Application process
Applicants will complete an eligibility questionnaire and formal application when their portal reopens. They must align with one of the two core objectives.

Any specific tips to apply

  • Emphasise sustainability, not just one-off events

  • Show how work engages intended beneficiaries

  • Use volunteers effectively

  • Avoid over‑reliance on one grant (i.e. show diversified funding sources)
