The Sasha Foundation was established in memory of Sasha Love to support work that reflects her values and legacy, particularly in the area of mental health. Named after Sasha, who lived with bipolar disorder, the Foundation aims to provide meaningful support to charitable organisations addressing mental health challenges.
Priority themes they want to fund
The Foundation supports two main areas of work. In the UK, it focuses on charities helping young people experiencing depression, mental health issues or drug-related challenges. Overseas, it supports education and healthcare projects, with a bias towards improving access to education for young women in developing countries
Eligibility
Grants are available to established charitable organisations — applicants don’t have to be registered charities, but the activity must be charitable in law.
Grant amounts & use
Grants are typically up to £10,000, and normally cover no more than 50 % of a project’s total costs. Funding can be used for running costs, project delivery, equipment or specific activities aligned with the Foundation’s objectives.
Application process & deadlines
Applications must be submitted in writing using the Sasha Foundation’s application form and can be sent by email or post. Trustees meet at least twice a year to consider applications, with typical deadlines on 1 April and 1 October each year.
Any specific tips to apply
Strong applications clearly explain how the project supports young people’s mental health or education/healthcare for young women overseas, outline measurable outcomes and demonstrate how success will be assessed and reported back to trustees. Including co-funding or other secured funds can strengthen an application, given the co-funding approach.
