King Charles III Charitable Fund – Small Grants

The King Charles III Charitable Fund (KCCF) is the UK grant-making charity founded by King Charles III in 1979 (formerly The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund). It supports a wide range of charitable causes across the UK, investing in community wellbeing, heritage, environment and inclusion.

The Small Grants programme supports grassroots community projects within six core themes: social inclusion, health and wellbeing, education, environment, countryside, and heritage & conservation. Projects should deliver clear benefit to people and places, often in disadvantaged or underserved communities.

Grants are open to UK-registered non-profit organisations, including charities, charitable incorporated organisations and Community Interest Companies (CICs), provided they meet criteria such as: having completed at least two years of operation, an annual income between roughly £25,000 and £500,000 (or under £1m depending on round), less than six months unrestricted reserves and projects with total costs under set limits.

Awards of up to £3,000 – £5,000 per year are available, and can be held for up to three years depending on the round and theme. Funding is typically for project delivery and activities that align with the programme’s community focus.

Application process & deadlines
The Small Grants programme runs several funding rounds each year, each focused on a pair of themes (e.g. social inclusion and health & wellbeing in January; environment and countryside in August; education and heritage in October). Applications are made via the KCCF online form during specific windows. Organisations can apply only after a gap following any previous application or award.

Successful applications clearly link the project to one of the Fund’s priority themes, show community need and impact, and include realistic outcomes and budgets. Highlighting work in disadvantaged areas or with underserved groups can strengthen the case, given the Fund’s focus on positive community change.
