Green Hall Foundation

The Green Hall Foundation is a UK grant-making charity whose aim is to improve the lives of people experiencing disadvantage, particularly those who are sick, elderly, disabled or otherwise vulnerable. The Foundation provides small grants to charities working in health, social care and community support across the UK.

Priority themes they want to fund
The Foundation supports projects that improve quality of life for:

  • Children and young people in need

  • Older people and those experiencing ill health

  • People with disabilities (physical or learning)

  • Disadvantaged individuals and communities

Projects that deliver practical benefit — particularly in areas such as healthcare, social welfare, community support and disability services — are well aligned with the Trust’s priorities.

Funding is open only to UK registered charities. CICs and other non-charitable organisations are not eligible. Projects may take place in the UK or overseas, provided the applicant organisation is a UK charity.

Grants are typically £1,000–£10,000, with many awards falling between £2,000 and £5,000. Funding is usually for specific projects or the purchase of equipment, rather than ongoing operational costs. The Foundation generally does not fund salaries or general running costs.

The trustees meet twice a year (May and November) to consider applications. Funding rounds usually open around 1 March and 1 September, and applications are accepted online. Demand is high and only the first 150 applications in each round are considered, so rounds often close very quickly after opening.

Successful applications clearly show how the grant will make a tangible difference — for example by funding essential equipment or a defined project that benefits a number of people. The Foundation particularly favours proposals where its grant can make a significant contribution to the total cost of the project.
