Swan Mountain Trust

The Swan Mountain Trust is a small UK grant-making charity supporting organisations working with disadvantaged people. For its current three-year funding period, it is concentrating its grants on refugees and asylum seekers.

The Trust is particularly interested in organisations supporting refugees and asylum seekers, with a strong emphasis on the mental health of young people. It aims to fund specific needs within organisations rather than large-scale programmes.

The Trust generally focuses on small organisations with annual income below £500,000. Its latest accounts describe its beneficiaries as small registered charities, so CICs should check eligibility directly before applying.

Grants are usually between £2,000 and £4,000. Applications can be made at any time. Trustees meet three times each year in February, June and October.

An initial email enquiry is encouraged. Applicants should be prepared to provide a short description of their organisation and project, a costed breakdown of how the grant would be used, recent annual accounts and management accounts.

This looks particularly suitable for smaller refugee and asylum organisations seeking a relatively modest amount for a clearly identified need. Applications involving young refugees or asylum seekers experiencing mental health difficulties appear to be the strongest fit.
