About the funder
The Aurelius Charitable Trust supports charitable organisations across England and Wales that are working to preserve cultural heritage and promote knowledge, particularly within the humanities.
Priority themes they want to fund
The Trust is interested in projects that conserve culture inherited from the past and improve public understanding of history, heritage, literature, philosophy, archaeology, archives, museums, and other humanities-related subjects.
Funding is available to charitable organisations in England and Wales. The Trust does not fund administration, operational or core running costs. There is no published indication that CICs are eligible, so registered charities are most likely to be successful.
There is no fixed maximum grant. Previous awards have generally ranged between £1,000 and £10,000.
Deadlines
Applications can be submitted at any time. Trustees meet twice each year to consider applications.
Applications should be made in writing and include details of the organisation, project, costs and expected outcomes. The Trust favours clear, well-defined projects that align closely with its charitable objectives.
Any specific tips to apply
Projects focused on heritage conservation, archives, museums, local history, cultural preservation, research, education and public engagement are likely to be a strong fit. Ensure your application clearly demonstrates how the project will preserve cultural heritage or increase understanding of the humanities.
