Welsh Water Community Fund

The Welsh Water Community Fund is delivered by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, a not-for-profit water company serving most of Wales, Herefordshire and Deeside. The Fund supports local community groups and organisations to deliver projects that benefit health, wellbeing, the environment and local life.

The Fund focuses on projects that deliver positive community outcomes, especially those connected to:

  • Health and wellbeing initiatives that benefit residents

  • Cost-of-living and support activities that help people manage household pressures

  • Environmental improvements such as green spaces, environmental education or local sustainability activities

  • Community education and local engagement linked to water and the environment

Priority is often given to groups operating where Welsh Water has carried out, or is carrying out, work in the community.

Funding is open to voluntary and community organisations, charities, constituted groups and not-for-profit bodies working within the Welsh Water service area (Wales, Herefordshire and parts of Deeside). Projects should clearly benefit local people and communities.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available for eligible local projects. Funding can be used to support delivery costs, materials, activities or community initiatives that align with the Fund’s themes.

Applications are submitted through the Welsh Water online form. The Fund runs three funding windows in 2026:

  • 1 Jan – 28 Feb

  • 1 May – 30 Jun

  • 1 Sep – 31 Oct

Decisions are made shortly after each window closes.

Any specific tips to apply
Strong applications clearly explain who benefits, how the project will improve wellbeing or the local environment, and include clear, realistic costs. Demonstrating local need and community engagement — especially where Welsh Water has been working nearby — can strengthen your case.
