Sea-Changers is a UK marine conservation charity that supports projects protecting and restoring the UK’s seas, coastlines and marine wildlife. Through its Innovation Fund, Sea-Changers specifically backs new, creative and experimental approaches to marine conservation challenges.
The Innovation Fund focuses on innovative solutions that could make a real difference to the marine environment. This includes new ways to protect marine species and habitats, reduce marine pollution, improve monitoring and data collection, and engage communities in marine conservation. Projects are expected to test ideas that go beyond established practice and have potential to inform or scale future work.
Applications are open to a wide range of UK-based organisations, including charities, community groups, CICs, social enterprises, schools, universities and other not-for-profit organisations. Projects must benefit the UK’s marine or coastal environment.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available. Funding can be used to pilot new ideas, trial innovative methods, develop tools or approaches, and cover project delivery costs linked directly to the innovation being tested.
Applications are made online. The current round is open, with a deadline of 30 April 2026. Sea-Changers expects projects to be well-defined, deliverable and clearly focused on innovation and impact.
Strong applications clearly explain what is new or different about the idea, why it matters for marine conservation, and how learning will be captured and shared. Trustees are particularly interested in projects that can demonstrate potential for wider impact beyond the initial pilot.
