Barrow Cadbury Trust

The Barrow Cadbury Trusts  has a mission to tackle root causes of injustice through long-term, catalytic support. The Trust is an independent charitable foundation that uses all of its resources to promote social justice, particularly through research, influencing policy, grantmaking, and partnership.

Its grantmaking is focused on a few core programme areas: Criminal Justice, Migration, and Economic Justice. They often favour long-term partnerships and structural change work over short-term, frontline service delivery.

  • There is no fixed application deadline — you can submit a funding enquiry at any time.

  • If your enquiry is accepted, you’ll be invited to submit a full application. The decision process for full applications can take up to four months. They expect applicants to have strong governance, good financial management, and an ability to explain how your work links to their strategic goals.

  • Grant sizes vary. In the past, smaller grants were in the range of £3,000 to £25,000 for relevant projects.

  • For a specific grant call (focused on young adults and criminal justice in Birmingham / Black Country), they supported £10,000–£15,000 per year for up to three years for new initiatives.
