Applications open 1 August – 29 August 2025

The McCarthy Stone Foundation is inviting grassroots charities, constituted community groups, and community interest companies (CICs) with incomes under £250,000 to apply for their Creating Connections Grant Programme. This year, over 20 grants of up to £7,500 will be awarded to support organisations working to reduce loneliness and isolation among adults aged 65+ in England, Wales, and Scotland

  • Registered charities, community groups with a constitution, or CICs limited by guarantee.

  • Annual income must be under £250k.

  • Dementia-specific groups are not eligible this round (there will be a separate Dementia Grants Programme launching Spring 2026). However, organisations serving a broader older population—including those with dementia

The Foundation is looking for initiatives that boost meaningful social interactions for older people, such as:

  • Befriending services (including meals delivery to people living independently)

  • Community groups (art classes, dance sessions, lunch clubs, coffee mornings)

  • Community transport schemes that connect older people to local activities and services

  • Priority is given to projects in deprived areas of Great Britain, based on ONS, Age UK, and Centre for Ageing Better data.

  • Applications demonstrating a place-based approach and high impact in areas of greatest need are favoured
