Internet Fundraising

“The future is already here – it’s just not very evenly distributed”, William Gibson

eBay is an online auction site and is the UK’s largest online marketplace, with 21 million UK customers and accounts for 11% of all the time people in the UK spend on the Internet. Every day eBay raises £11,000 for Charities and it is free and easy to use, and allows you to sell goods to a world wide audience.
Setting up
To set up you need to register with ebay (Missionfish), which includes proving your charitable status. This is quick and easy to do. Once complete you can start to sell goods through their auctions. In addition supporters can sell their own goods and donate the proceedings (from 10% to 100%) to your charity. You can run your own charity online shop or just hold your own online auctions
Missionfish is the Charity selling arm of eBay. It is important to register your organisation with this rather than sell as an individual because eBay do not charge any fee to charities; for registering with MissionFish, to receive donations, any commission on Gift Aid (which is passed on in full) nor do they charge any additional processing costs or VAT to buyers, sellers or charities.
