This general grant making trust supports a diverse range of charities. Grants are divided into the following categories.

Community
Education
Arts
Health
Social Welfare
Amateur Sport
Emergency and Armed Forces
Environment
Animal Welfare

The trustees support capital projects only, and not running costs. In cases where grants are made, the projects are expected to be self-financing thereafter. There are three levels of grant:

Small – up to and including £5,000
Medium – £5,001 to £25,000
Large – over £25,000
